Never leave an 8th grader and cinnamon rolls alone in a house…

On Valentines Day, I woke up bright and early (noon) to check my phone to read all the “Happy Valentine’s Day” texts I wouldn’t receive… but instead saw that my parents had texted me saying they had taken my brothers to a skate shop, and I was home alone… With a big pan of cinnamon rolls. Not only did I find the rolls, but I also found a tub of extra frosting and two Reese’s Hearts.

I downed the 6 rolls and the Reese’s in a record speed (21 seconds) and nearly threw up in the process. Afterwards, I realized that I had easily blew my sugar total for the day. I did the math, and realized that the 6 Cinnamon Rolls had 92.5 grams, and the 2 Reese’s had 21 grams of sugar… I’m no math wiz, but that’s a LOT of sugar (113.5 grams, to be exact).

The way the oatmeal pie cream rolls down your throat is so delicious you just want more, but trust me it can wait till tomorrow or the next day

Have you ever had a small oatmeal pie and say I just want more? They are delicious but here is the truth; one small oatmeal pie has 12 grams of sugar! That’s half of your day in one small oatmeal pie. I used to have one every day but now I am going to consider maybe pretzels with milk or some type of healthy snack.

Is Starbucks worth your bucks?

This just in Starbucks is using too much sugar.  According to our food database, Starbucks is over using the daily amount of sugar intake. If you think coffee makes you hyper think again when you go get a Starbucks frappuccino. 173 calories, but worst of all 37.5 grams of sugar! That’s 12.5 more sugars than average teens/tweens are supposed to have. So just stick with the family Keurig.

Do your parents always make you buy the fruit version of Special K Cereal? Well it isn’t always better for you.

We looked at two kinds of Special K cereal: chocolatey delight, which has 11 grams of sugar, and fruit and yogurt, which has 13 grams. So if you prefer the chocolate version, buy it (or don’t).

Also, in the fruit and yogurt brand, we found six sugar ingredients. They include, but are not limited to, sugar, brown sugar, and confectioners glaze.

Do your parents tell you to eat something healthy like fruit or yogurt?  If so, you might choose the Fruit and Yogurt Parfait at McDonalds.

A mixture of fruit, yogurt and granola bars, the Fruit and Yogurt Parfait has 23 grams of sugar. It’s definitely not the healthiest thing on the menu — even if it IS better than a milkshake!
