Krispy Kreme VS. Dunkin Donuts

____________________________

Have you ever had a donut from Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme?  Well, you can eat Krispy Kreme donuts and get 1 more gram of sugar than a Dunkin Donuts donut. Dunkin Donuts has 9 grams of sugar in their glazed donuts. Krispy Kreme has 10 grams of sugar in their glazed donuts. This means that you are in for about the same with both donut brands.

Angel Food Cake… or Demon Food Cake

___________________________________________________

Some of you may have had angel food cake before.

You know, the light, fluffy, spongecake that’s great with strawberries or chocolate sauce. But plain, it’s quite flavorless. However, did you know that even though it might not taste so sweet, it is still quite sugary.

Using a dry mix produces 15 grams of sugar per one 1.8 ounce serving, and that’s not even with sauce. Lindt Chocolate sauce has 14 grams of sugar in just 2 tablespoons! Combined that’s 29 grams of sugar, 5 grams over the recommended daily amount for teens and tweens.

There is also actually something called Devil’s Food cake, which is basically the opposite of Angel Food cake. It’s rich chocolate cake, with hot fudge, and even more sugary toppings. It’s not much healthier — 12.8 grams of sugar per ounce. Do a little math (multiply 12.8 by the 1.8  ounce serving from earlier) and you get 23 grams of sugar! I guess that’s why it’s called devil food cake.

Danimals and Go-gurt

People think yogurt is good for you, it can be, but not the way Dannon or Yoplait make it.

Both Danimals and Go-gurt have 10 grams of sugar, but that’s not the surprising part; One Danimals bottle is only 3.1 fluid ounces and one Go-gurt tube is only 2.3 fluid ounces.  To put that into comparison, 3.1 fluid ounces is only 6.2 tablespoons, 2.3 fl. oz is 4.6 tablespoons. That crazy to think about! The question is, how do they fit 10 grams of sugar into 2.3 and 3.1 fluid ounces?

Juices and Smoothies Snackdown!

You thought both juices and smoothies are healthy, but their’s one that’s superior to the other.

There are many different factors that can affect this. A homemade smoothie or juice is better than store bought, and what you use in your smoothie/juice can change the results but here are the facts: An all-fruit smoothie has less sugar and more fiber than a fruit juice.

You may be asking, “What is this fiber and how does it make a smoothie better?” Basically, fiber is a carbohydrate your body cannot break down, so because of that it leaves your body feeling much fuller. When you make juice, although you get a lot of nutrients, you don’t get the filling fiber, making you want more food.

So basically, both are fairly healthy choices, but if you want to be filled, smoothies are you best choice.

Death-Fil-A 101

copy-of-sugar-slide-basic

I bet you’ve been to Chick-Fil-A and gotten a milkshake.

I also bet you don’t know the amount of sugar in any of the shakes. I’ll tell you:

  • 18 oz Chocolate milkshake: 111g
  • 18 oz Cookies and Cream milkshake: 100g
  • 18 oz Strawberry milkshake: 98g
  • 18 oz Vanilla milkshake: 95g

https://www.caloriecount.com/cc/search.php?searchpro=Chick-Fil-A+milkshake

24 grams of sugar is the amount that your supposed to have in a day. All of these shakes are about 4-5 days worth of sugar. When you add them all up, you get a total of 404 grams of sugar, which equals 101 grams on average of sugar per shake. I hope next time you want a shake, you don’t choose Chick-Fil-A. Make a healthier choice.

McDonald’s Milkshake vs Wendy’s Frosty

copy-of-sugar-slide-basiccopy-of-sugar-slide-basic

______________________________________________________________

We all know that McDonald’s can make you Mcfat (getting fat from McDonald’s).

Their meals are very unhealthy. But now, its time to look at their deserts or more specifically, their milkshakes! We are going to compare a 12 oz McDonald’s chocolate triple thick “Death”shake with a 12 oz chocolate frosty from Wendy’s.

According to my calculations, McDonald’s triple thick milkshake is 7.28 times worse than Wendy’s frosty.

Which Disastrously drink would you consume? Anyone would obviously choose what’s not McDonald’s. Which ever one you think tastes good might not be what it seems.

Is Motts Good For You?

___________________________________________

All of Motts commercials promote that a serving of juice is good for you and promotes healthy growth.

While the juice may be good, sugar-wise it isn’t. This drink has 28 grams of sugar. That’s a little over a day of sugar.  So one glass in the morning, and your done for the day. Most diabetics or people with insulin resistance can’t even have juices like Mott’s.

Most parents give their younger kids those juices because they are “healthy” but are you really helping your kid by feeding them so much sugar?

_____________________________________

In the flood of new energy drinks, it is hard to keep track of all the sugar in them. In this comparison, we will be comparing two of the most popular brands; Gatorade vs Powerade!

Let the fight begin!

In the red corner coming in with 56 grams of sugar, is Gatorade Thirst Quencher! In the blue corner coming in with 28 grams of sugar, is Powerade!

Both of them are over the daily recommended sugar amount of 24 grams, but it seems like in this case Powerade is the winner!

Hold on a second; Let’s broaden our searches for a second match, to Gatorade 02. This type of Gatorade has only 18 grams per bottle. So, Gatorade 02 will be the best for you if you are looking for the least sugar in your drink.

Dark Chocolate vs Milk Chocolate

Copy of Sugar Slide - Basic

On average an american consumes about 11 lbs of chocolate every year.

That’s 2464 grams of sugar each year, or about 102 days worth of sugar. That’s also a little more than 2 average physics textbooks. Or about 1 average house cat!

Imagine eating 2 large textbooks or even your own cat! Most chocolate consumed by kids is milk chocolate which, by the way has 21.9 grams of sugar in one bar. Most people think dark chocolate is better, it is, it’s about 11 grams better. That doesn’t mean you should gorge yourself with it. So which chocolate do you like best?

More or Less? Which is better

Recently me and my friend made a slushie.

Our blender had a leak so most of the water leaked out but not much of the sugar. Little did my friend know because he added another full one cup of sugar making it two cups of sugar.

Then, we split it between us with 1/3 of the whole blender for each of us making us drink a bit more than 5 times the daily recommended amount at 133.333 grams of sugar to be exact.

Now our teacher asked us to make the slushie again but this time with 0 grams of sugar to see witch tastes better if there is a difference. We did a blind taste test to ask people witch one tastes better and to see if they could identify the two different drinks from each other Here we GO!!!

The results are in

Out of five different people, four were able to tell the difference between the drinks out of five and three preferred the non sugar drink to two preferring the sugar drink.  It was close but the non-sugar won it all in the end.  So after all my prediction was wrong and my freinds was right.  Back to the drawing board again!
