Krispy Kreme VS. Dunkin Donuts

Have you ever had a donut from Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme?  Well, you can eat Krispy Kreme donuts and get 1 more gram of sugar than a Dunkin Donuts donut. Dunkin Donuts has 9 grams of sugar in their glazed donuts. Krispy Kreme has 10 grams of sugar in their glazed donuts. This means that you are in for about the same with both donut brands.

Want to know how much sugar you eat each day?

Then you should go to this awesome interactive quiz by The New York Times. Basically what you can do is go through your daily foods and see how much added sugar you consume.

They have a good variety of foods and it’s very accurate. It’s also mind blowing how much sugar there is in average foods. One of the coolest parts of this is that if you scroll down you see how you blew the sugar, you can see how much sugar is in each piece of food.

I had some members at Sugar Kills and Kiva try this and there was a big variety of amounts. Some had 10 grams, another had 46 grams, one even had as high as 151 grams of sugar! I personally got 25 grams of sugar, but something tells me that we all won’t follow that exactly.

DQ Whiteout!

The amount of sugar in this delicious Blizzard will certainly give you chills.  

So, we’ve made blogs about about Dairy Queen Blizzards in the past, but we’ve realized that we’ve only covered the mini-sized one. Recently, we have found how much sugars are in a large blizzard, and it will give you some mad frostbite.

There is a whopping 111 grams of sugar in a Large Oreo Blizzard (17.6 oz.) There is also 1016 calories, which will take about 5 hours of walking to burn off! You guys may love your blizzards but is it really worth 4 and a half days of sugar AND half of your daily calories?

In the past we have written about deadly, tasty ice cream, but nothing could prepare us for this…

This ice cream, this scrumptious ice cream, has only about 4 grams of sugar per serving, depending of the flavor. You also get 6 grams of protein, 20% of your daily fiber, and only 240-280 calories.

That is much better than the killer Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.

I did a taste test and compared it to normal ice cream. It’s taste is almost identical, and the texture was quite accurate. I think it’s safe to say it’s pretty close to normal ice cream. So if you happen to see it at the store, try it instead of your normal ice cream.

Binge Eating Ben and Jerrys

I know we have done other posts on Ben and Jerry’s but the only flavor we have compared is Vanilla. Now it is time to compare more flavors… let’s get into it!

So the flavors we will be comparing are Chocolate Fudge, Strawberry Cheesecake, Cherry Garcia, Chocolate, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Peanut Butter, and Phish Food.

(I know what you are thinking, PHISH FOOD?!? Look it up, it’s seems good.)

Since we are not made of cash, we cannot actually buy all of the flavors — but we used our trusty calorieking.com to do our research. Here we go!

Chocolate Fudge has 27 grams of sugar per serving.

Strawberry Cheesecake has 22 grams of sugar per serving.

Cherry Garcia has 23 grams of sugar per serving.

Plain Chocolate has 21 grams of sugar per serving.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough has 25 grams of sugar per serving.

Peanut Butter has 24 grams of sugar per serving.

Phish Food has 28 grams of sugar per serving.

All of those average out to around 24.3 grams per serving, which equals a half of a cup. That means with one scoop of ice cream, you will fulfill all of daily sugar needs. That is ridiculous!

But the thing is everybody knows that ice cream is bad for you but they keep eating it anyways.

If your ice cream addiction is going through the roof, come back on Monday for a new inventive way to keep the taste but not the sugar!

Oreo V.S Oreo Thins

Have you ever thought that Oreo Thins are just a marketing gimmick?

Well if you think that, you are correct.

One Oreo thin has 3 grams of sugar.  One Original Oreo has 3.3 grams of sugar. The result surprised us. We thought that the one Oreo Thin would have a lot less sugar than a regular Oreo. The difference is only 0.3 grams though.

Angel Food Cake… or Demon Food Cake

Some of you may have had angel food cake before.

You know, the light, fluffy, spongecake that’s great with strawberries or chocolate sauce. But plain, it’s quite flavorless. However, did you know that even though it might not taste so sweet, it is still quite sugary.

Using a dry mix produces 15 grams of sugar per one 1.8 ounce serving, and that’s not even with sauce. Lindt Chocolate sauce has 14 grams of sugar in just 2 tablespoons! Combined that’s 29 grams of sugar, 5 grams over the recommended daily amount for teens and tweens.

There is also actually something called Devil’s Food cake, which is basically the opposite of Angel Food cake. It’s rich chocolate cake, with hot fudge, and even more sugary toppings. It’s not much healthier — 12.8 grams of sugar per ounce. Do a little math (multiply 12.8 by the 1.8  ounce serving from earlier) and you get 23 grams of sugar! I guess that’s why it’s called devil food cake.

Death-Fil-A 101

I bet you’ve been to Chick-Fil-A and gotten a milkshake.

I also bet you don’t know the amount of sugar in any of the shakes. I’ll tell you:

  • 18 oz Chocolate milkshake: 111g
  • 18 oz Cookies and Cream milkshake: 100g
  • 18 oz Strawberry milkshake: 98g
  • 18 oz Vanilla milkshake: 95g

24 grams of sugar is the amount that your supposed to have in a day. All of these shakes are about 4-5 days worth of sugar. When you add them all up, you get a total of 404 grams of sugar, which equals 101 grams on average of sugar per shake. I hope next time you want a shake, you don’t choose Chick-Fil-A. Make a healthier choice.

McDonald’s Milkshake vs Wendy’s Frosty

We all know that McDonald’s can make you Mcfat (getting fat from McDonald’s).

Their meals are very unhealthy. But now, its time to look at their deserts or more specifically, their milkshakes! We are going to compare a 12 oz McDonald’s chocolate triple thick “Death”shake with a 12 oz chocolate frosty from Wendy’s.

According to my calculations, McDonald’s triple thick milkshake is 7.28 times worse than Wendy’s frosty.

Which Disastrously drink would you consume? Anyone would obviously choose what’s not McDonald’s. Which ever one you think tastes good might not be what it seems.

Whipped Cream VS. Sugary Food

Have you ever chugged down a bottle of whipped cream?

Well, if you looked at “The Secret Behind Whipped Cream” whipped cream might not be good for you but, there is only 6.5 grams of sugar in a whole bottle of whipped cream. But do not chug down whipped cream on a  regular basis or you might have some problems….

At least you are notdownload having as much sugar as a box of Cocoa Krispies.  That has 25 grams of sugar.
