Juices and Smoothies Snackdown!

You thought both juices and smoothies are healthy, but their’s one that’s superior to the other.

There are many different factors that can affect this. A homemade smoothie or juice is better than store bought, and what you use in your smoothie/juice can change the results but here are the facts: An all-fruit smoothie has less sugar and more fiber than a fruit juice.

You may be asking, “What is this fiber and how does it make a smoothie better?” Basically, fiber is a carbohydrate your body cannot break down, so because of that it leaves your body feeling much fuller. When you make juice, although you get a lot of nutrients, you don’t get the filling fiber, making you want more food.

So basically, both are fairly healthy choices, but if you want to be filled, smoothies are you best choice.

A glass of lemonade isn’t that sweet.

One serving of Minute Maid Lemonade has 44 grams of sugar. That’s almost twice the amount sugar a person should have in a day. It’s high in sugar, so next time you drink a glass of  lemonade, remember; it’s not as great as you think.

Or maybe the #sugarkills team will try skydiving off of Mount Everest. Either way we are excited to track-out and having amazing holidays. We will back in 2017  hopefully gonna start the new year off with some new post.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Hot Chocolate

_______________________________________

The weather is getting cold (except in the southern hemisphere) and the snow is starting to fall.

We are all in our houses, snuggled up in blankets, drinking our hot chocolate…but are we going to start looking like Santa if we keep it up?  It turns out in a 12 oz drink of Hot-Cocoa there is actually 36 grams of sugar.

That is over the daily recommended amount and half of the next days sugar in just one mug of hot chocolate!

Death-Fil-A 101

copy-of-sugar-slide-basic

I bet you’ve been to Chick-Fil-A and gotten a milkshake.

I also bet you don’t know the amount of sugar in any of the shakes. I’ll tell you:

  • 18 oz Chocolate milkshake: 111g
  • 18 oz Cookies and Cream milkshake: 100g
  • 18 oz Strawberry milkshake: 98g
  • 18 oz Vanilla milkshake: 95g

https://www.caloriecount.com/cc/search.php?searchpro=Chick-Fil-A+milkshake

24 grams of sugar is the amount that your supposed to have in a day. All of these shakes are about 4-5 days worth of sugar. When you add them all up, you get a total of 404 grams of sugar, which equals 101 grams on average of sugar per shake. I hope next time you want a shake, you don’t choose Chick-Fil-A. Make a healthier choice.

McDonald’s Milkshake vs Wendy’s Frosty

______________________________________________________________

We all know that McDonald’s can make you Mcfat (getting fat from McDonald’s).

Their meals are very unhealthy. But now, its time to look at their deserts or more specifically, their milkshakes! We are going to compare a 12 oz McDonald’s chocolate triple thick “Death”shake with a 12 oz chocolate frosty from Wendy’s.

According to my calculations, McDonald’s triple thick milkshake is 7.28 times worse than Wendy’s frosty.

Which Disastrously drink would you consume? Anyone would obviously choose what’s not McDonald’s. Which ever one you think tastes good might not be what it seems.

The double chocolaty chip creme Frappuccino with blended creme.

It may sound somewhat appetizing, and a good treat for the holiday’s, but in my experience with this drink, I just tasted straight up chocolate.

After further research, I found out that it has 52 GRAMS OF SUGAR plus 20 grams of fat! So take my advice, and never get this drink because of the amount of sugar. Plus, it’s a waste of money, and you can make it yourself with less sugar at home.

Whipped Cream VS. Sugary Food

Have you ever chugged down a bottle of whipped cream?

Well, if you looked at “The Secret Behind Whipped Cream” whipped cream might not be good for you but, there is only 6.5 grams of sugar in a whole bottle of whipped cream. But do not chug down whipped cream on a  regular basis or you might have some problems….

At least you are notdownload having as much sugar as a box of Cocoa Krispies.  That has 25 grams of sugar.

Kellogg’s Apple vs Cocoa vs Cinnamon

_______________________________________

Which cereal is the best for you?

If you are only supposed to eat 24 grams of sugar each day, is Apple Jacks, Cocoa Krispies, or Cinnamon Brown Sugar Crunch best for you?

Apple Jacks only has 15 grams of sugar, which is 9 grams less than what you are supposed to eat. Unfortunately, Cocoa has 25 grams of sugar, which is over the limit of sugar. Finally, the Cinnamon Brown cereal has a total of 16 grams of sugar.

It looks like Apple Jacks is the best, but Cinnamon Brown is very close behind the Apple Jacks. If you like Cocoa Krispies, think twice about buying this sugar killer.

Thanksgiving Dinner With The Family

___________________________________________

Thanksgiving is approaching fast and I know that everyone is looking forward to one thing…

Black Friday! No, I’m joking, its Thanksgiving dinner. And we all know the highlight of the dinner is the Turkey. You may think that the Turkey doesn’t have any sugar in it and you would be correct. But what’s really the ticking time bomb of sugar is the cranberry sauce.

The thing that is always hard to spread over your Turkey has 21 grams of sugar per 1/4 cup (Serving Size).  So next time that you reach for another serving of the sauce think twice before pouring the whole can all over your plate. Happy Thanksgiving!
