Clarification 9/22/14:

There are 40 grams of sugar in 2 cups of spaghetti sauce, which is more than most people have. A more reasonable estimate of the average consumption of spaghetti sauce per meal is 1 cup, which is 20 grams of sugar.

Wow I just had pasta last night, and gave myself a hearty helping of sugar. (or the spaghetti sauce)

I rechecked your numbers- you would have to eat 2 cups of sauce instead of the 1/2 cup serving size to have 40 grams of sugar. They also have a light sauce with 7 grams per serving.
7-10 grams is still a lot, and most boys your age probably eat a cup instead of 1/2 cup of sauce.
